My top 5 ways to get a finger size.

Buying a ring is a special occasion, and getting the correct finger size is important to ensure the ring fits comfortably and securely. Getting an accurate finger size can be tricky! There are a few ways to determine your finger size before making a purchase. Let’s find the best one, without spoiling any surprises.

  1. The best way to measure your finger size is by using a ring sizer. Visit a Jeweller to have your finger measured or, you can purchase a ring sizer online yourself. A ring sizer is a set of metal or plastic rings in various sizes that you can slide onto your finger to determine which size fits best. If you are purchasing a surprise ring though, this is obviously not going to be your best option.

  2. Bring in a ring (or two!) that your recipient wears to be sized by the Jeweller. Try to take note of the finger this ring is usually worn on. If you’re not local, try option 3.

  3. Download a ring sizing app on your phone to measure a finger size. Such as this one https://apps.apple.com/au/app/ring-size-finder/id1471631458 - Using the app, place a ring your recipient already wears on the screen and drag the measuring tool to ascertain the inside diameter. Keep in mind which finger this ring is usually worn on for extra accuracy. Screenshot the information and send to the Jeweller.

  4. Don’t want an app? Place the ring on a flat ruler with millimetre measurements, at the widest point of the ring to determine the inside diameter. Photograph it directly above the ring and forward to your Jeweller. You can see an example of this on our FAQ page

  5. Place a ring that your recipient wears on your own finger, and mark in pen where that sits. Take a photo or hop yourself to the Jeweller for them to measure the diameter of the mark on your finger. This method is not quite as reliable, but better than nothing if none of the above suits you.

It's important to note that finger sizes can fluctuate throughout the day and between seasons due to temperature changes or physical activity. It's best to measure your finger size when your hands are at a normal temperature and when you're relaxed.

If you're still unsure about your finger size, consider purchasing a slightly larger size rather than a smaller size. Rings can be resized by a Jeweller, but it's easier and usually more cost-effective to make a ring smaller than it is to make it larger.

In summary, getting the correct finger size is important when purchasing a ring. Whether you visit a Jeweller, use a ring sizer, or even try your partner’s rings on yourself, taking the time to determine your finger size will ensure that the new ring fits comfortably and securely.
